Star Wars quietly confirms Mace Windu’s fate, and he isn’t dead

Every major franchise on the planet has become somewhat obsessed with cameos.

This reliance on cameos is also something we’ve seen become increasingly prevalent in the world ofStar Wars.

If creatives can come up with a way to feature a fan favourite, from Luke Skywalker to Qui-Gon Jinn, you best believe they will.

Plenty of prequel characters have resurfaced in recent years across Star Wars’ TV output, but there are a few notable exceptions.

Natalie Portman’s Padmé Amidala and Samuel L. Jackson’s Mace Windu are two of the most prominent characters yet to return.

Of course, that could be because - and I hate to remind everyone - they’re dead, and any kind of prequel adventure would require pricey de-aging technology.

But according to Jackson himself, our assumptions about Windu may actually be totally incorrect.

If you thought Windu died during a duel with Palpatine, then think again.

Samuel L. Jackson maintains the belief that Windu is somehow alive.

In an interview with Empire Magazine (viaVariety), Jackson exclaimed, “HE’S NOT DEAD!!!”

When asked whether Windu could therefore return for a sequel series or appearance, Jackson added a very enthusiastic, “EVERYTHING YES!!”

It’s not the most extensive of answers, but it’s enough to get the cogs whirring.

You see, Jackson is such a major and beloved household name that if he is onboard to return to the world of Star Wars, I’m imagining that creatives would be chomping at the bit to make it happen.

And while, yes, we did see Windu die, this is Star Wars.

There’s always an explanation as to why someone could come back.

I’m hardly a Hollywood writer and yet I can even come up with the idea of ‘he was placed in a bacta tank and then went into hiding’.

I certainly wouldn’t rule out a Windu-centric series in the coming years, but only time will reveal all.
