ConcernedApe is best known primarily for his work on the solo-developed, farm RPGStardew Valley, but he’s also started to attract a bit of a cult following online due to how genuinely lovely and down-to-earth all of his tweets are in spite of his incredible and well deserved success.
His latest post is no different in this regard, and has likely earned him even more fans given the outpouring of happy responses it’s garnered.

“I swear on the honor of my family name,” he stated in reply to another comment, “I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live. Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath.”
Of course, for fans ofStardew Valley this is simply par for the course. The game has come a long way since it first launched back in 2016, with its most recent 1.6.8 update releasing back on the 28th of April this year.
Every update released for the game has included the type of content many other publishers would have gladly charged players for, and there’s not a single piece of DLC (paid or otherwise) available for the game outside of this.
Responses to the news were unanimously positive. Frankly I couldn’t foresee any reason for someone to view such news as a negative, nor could I see any reason for some to be mean to Eric Barone in general, but it’s still nice to see the internet in complete agreement over something for once.

Replies ranged fromone commentorwho said “there is no dev on earth better than you”,to anotherwho stated that “ConcernedApe has earned their slot in the great dev hall of fame and great person hall of fame several times over at this point.”
Eric is also hard at work on his latest gameHaunted Chocolatier, which currently has no set release date, so at the very least the love he’s garnered should translate into strong sales numbers once it’s available. He certainly deserves it.
