Elsewhere, another Reddit user begged, “Please make this a demo people can explore. I want to walk around thisStardewso bad.”

It is stunning, we can’t deny. However, few of us have stopped to think about how unnerving the monsters of ConcernedApe’s tale would be.

One Redditor did, though; they reminded us just how “terrifying” this world would be once we strip back the pleasant scenery. “With these graphics, ghosts and ghouls and monsters will be insanely terrifying. Actual HP Lovecraft type spooky,” they argued.

As a comment mentioned earlier, this is only a showcase of what could be, not an experience we can play for ourselves.

Nonetheless, while the realistic allure of thisStardewisn’t within tangible reach, there are other experiences that are.

Stardew Valley: Distant Landsis one such expansion that delivers a content boost to the base game, in which many things go bump in the night.

If the supernatural doesn’t scare you, there’s always abrutal new modeavailable that probably will. It’s tough, so don’t say we didn’t warn you.

There’s so much we can still explore in the world beyond our farms, even if that exploration can only be in pixel art form for the time being.
