Starfield dev hits back at leaked screenshots

The launch ofStarfieldis nearly upon us and as excitement reaches fever pitch, fans are clamouring for new information on the upcoming Bethesda sci-fi RPG.

Starfieldhas been 20 years in the making according to Bethesda, so it’s understandable that anticipation has shot into the stratosphere. After all,StarfieldisXbox’sbiggest console exclusive sinceHalo Infinite, and as much as I love Master Chief, I think most of us can agree that his last outing didn’t quite match expectations.

Check out theStarfieldgameplay trailer below.

That being said, despite the success ofDeathloopin 2021, it’s not been a great time forBethesdalately following the woeful launch ofFallout 76in 2018 and more recently, the vampiric co-op vampire shooterRedfall. Though to be fair, from what we hear, following the lead ofNo Man’s Sky,Fallout 76is apparently a much better game now.

Hopefully, the expectations ofStarfieldwon’t be too unrealistic, because if there’s something a game can fail to live up to, it’s unrealistic expectations. That being said, I’m certainly hyped forStarfield -counting down the days until its launch.

Unfortunately, as with many major AAA releases, there is often the likelihood of spoilers making their way onto the internet andStarfieldis no exception. So as a heads-up, please be wary ofpotentialStarfieldspoilerson social media.

A screenshot of theStarfieldmain menu recently leakedand despite its minimalist presentation, it seemed that much of a Reddit thread appreciated its subtle design. However, as is the case with opinions, not everyone felt the same and aStarfielddeveloper has hit back at criticism of the leaked screenshot.

“An ‘insider’ peek at something that is a complete and utter fabrication. The hilariously incorrect analyses of a single leaked screenshot,” tweeted Pagliarulo.

“Just a reminder to everyone that leaks are leaks no matter what the slant, embargoes are in place for a reason, and any conjecture based on so little information is just utter guesswork,” he continued in a follow-up tweet. “On the plus side, fans are AMPED, and the game is almost here… for everyone!” Thankfully, the time ofStarfieldis nigh and it will be in our hands in just a couple of weeks.

Starfieldhas a release date of 6 September 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Unless you’ve pre-ordered the Premium or Constellation Edition. If so, then your release date is 1 September.Starfieldwill also launch on Xbox Game Pass.
