Infinitesimalslooks like a mash-up of several games and multimedia ideas. There’s a scoop ofStarfieldin its sci-fi leanings; a dollop ofA Bug’s LifeandHoney, I Shrunk the Kids, and you could easily say there are someAvatarvibes here too.
Serious space exploring vibes similar to Starfield coming from this game
Created inUnreal Engine 5, this is a gorgeous-looking world to explore. A world where “you play as Captain Awkney Relinrake, as he and his crew of minuscule aliens arrive on a mysterious, unknown planet.” What we see from the trailer is a lush environment of plants, landscapes made from oversized flowers, and mounds of dirt. One minute Relinrake is zipping about with a jetpack, scanning quaint landscapes, the next minute it’s time to panic as a spider the size of a bus crests a hill.

Coming from a small European studio, Cubit, the game looks lovingly created, bringing together what must be countless inspirations. There’s a dreamlike quality to the footage, with lots of light bloom and hazy landscapes. The attention to detail is amazing as Relinrake dashes through short grasses and blades of greenery lift from the roots to float along behind them.
There has always been a fascination with the idea of shrinking ourselves down to the size of bugs and exploring our world from an alien advantage andInfinitesimalsmanages to nail the aesthetic.
For a game with so few details floating around, watching this trailer got me rather excited. As a child of the 80’s I grew up on TV shows likeLand of the Giants, so this taps into a nostalgia that I’d love to explore more.
