
Starfieldplayers have been warned about the dangers of paid content mods, and to only download ones from trusted sources.
We’re about a week away from the exciting launch ofStarfield, which is aiming to beBethesda’sbiggest game yet, and one ofXbox’smost anticipated exclusives in a long time.

First impressions from reviewers areoverwhelmingly positiveso far, and fans couldn’t be more excited to finally get their hands on the game, which is coming toXbox Series X/S,Xbox Game Pass, andPCviaSteam.

However, futureStarfieldplayers are being warned about mods you’ll need to pay for, specifically PureDark’s DLSS mod, which could be locked behind a paywall on release. Reddit user GruvisMalt posted a warning to theStarfieldsubredditsaying: “For anyone considering buying PureDark’s DLSS mod at release, this is pretty important information.”
The post showed a screenshot of someone who’d paid for aStar Wars Jedi: Survivormod from the same user, and allegedly had to pay extra every time there was an update for the game. Commenters were horrified, mainly at the idea of people paying for mods in the first place, but also users allegedly using them to scam consumers.
“This guy turned from saviour and adored to the most hated modder in history in a matter of days," read one comment. “Guys. Wait for the game to release before even thinking about mods or worse, thinking about buying mods," said another.

Regardless,Starfield’s mods are shaping up to be something special, with each planet having limitless potential for additional content and quests.
Starfieldwill launch on 6 September for Xbox and PC platforms. Fans who purchased the Constellation Edition will be able to play the game on 1 September via early access.
