Starfield update to massively boost framerate, Bethesda confirms

Well, just days afterStarfielddropped its biggest update released thus far, Bethesda has announced that another is on the way - and this one tackles something players have long had an issue with, Starfield’s framerate.

Let’s backtrack just a little bit first. In case you missed it,Starfield’s whopping Update 1.9.51.0launched across all platforms earlier this weekafter previously only being available in beta testing via Steam. At the time, we noted that despite providingStarfieldwith a massive graphics boost, the update surprisingly hadn’t touched the framerate or resolution. It did, however, fix various bugs covering the areas of quests, exploration, and outpost building whilst also ironing out any graphical glitches and adjusting lighting. The good news is that now, an update is finally coming to addressStarfield’s framerate. There is one catch though.

Take a look at our review ofStarfieldbelow.

The catch is that the update is only going to be available for PC players. Sorry Xbox folk, which sadly includes myself. Bethesda took to Twitter to announce the news, writing, “We’re excited to share that AMD FSR 3 is coming toStarfieldSteam Beta next week! FSR 3 will be available to all PC players later this month ahead of our next scheduled update.”

You may recall thatStarfieldhit the headlines upon launch for capping the game at 30fps, which is somewhat understandable given the sheer size of its world. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of visual results this update yields.
