Howard recently spoke about the game’s length in an interview with IGN, and said that the main story, at the moment, takes 30-40 hours to complete, which isn’t far off other open-world Bethesda titles likeThe Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimandFallout 4. Howard said this could change though prior to release, saying: “This one’s ending up a little bit longer [than our previous games] and we may tune that some still,”

While surprisingly short, 30-40 hours for the main story isn’t bad considering the majority of the game will likely consist of side-quests and exploring the various planets in the galaxy. There’s also a comprehensive base and ship-building system, which will surely eat away many players' time with the game.
