Steam adds 12 free games you can download and keep for May

Gather around, one and all. If you’re a PC gamer looking to enjoy some new titles on a shoestring budget, you’re in the right place.

It’s not unusual to see people turn their nose up at the phrase ‘free-to-play’, but being free-to-play doesn’t make a game any less of a title.

If you’re someone who enjoys discovering the next indie delight, scouring free-to-play titles is a great way to do just that.

“Craft your destiny, engage in PvP battles, and shape Solaria’s destiny in a dynamic economy,” reads the synopsis.

Boasting an old-school aesthetic, this one should appeal to those with a yearning for nostalgia although do note that players have criticised the game’s simplicity.

Rubedo Games have launched a free prologue to their releaseSoulbind. This is an action roguelike platformer that sees you assume the role of a skeleton.

“The hero is a common skeleton and an outsider. But there is one special feature - you can replace your body parts with parts of your opponents' bodies. Learn the backstory and start your journey in the world of Allaar,” reads the description.

What’s nice about this prologue is that it’s a prologue in the literal sense. It’s a short backstory set before the events of the main game, introducing you to the playable character.

It’s not unusual these days for prologues to simply offer out the first, say, chapter of the game so it’s great to see that’s not the case here.

If platformers are more your thing, then you may want to check outSime Is Backfrom Grande Spallone Games.
