I’ll admit, I feel like I spend half of my life on trains so personally, I tend to steer clear of them when I’m gaming.
That being said, I can wholly understand the appeal ofTrain Sim World 5.

The methodical gameplay oozes satisfaction if you’re looking for something that’s both low stakes and highly rewarding.
While the full launch will set you back £39.99 for the standard edition, you can currently download aFree Starter PackfromSteamto see if the game is for you, with the pack essentially functioning as a generous demo.
The Plucky Squirealso recently launched.PlayStation Plussubscribers can grab it for free from the service’s extra tier.
If you download theTrain Sim World 5: Free Starter Pack, you’ll gain access to the Training Centre, a “tailor-made environment designed to train you in the fundamentals of locomotive operations”.

“Learn the art of rail across steam, diesel and electric traction,” it teases.
The game is set across London, Frankfurt, and Los Angeles so you’ll get to experience the rail systems of three very different countries.
There’s a conductor mode this time around too if you’d rather check tickets and assist passengers instead of driving the train.
The game doesn’t have a Metacritic score at the time of writing but fans have awarded it a rating of ‘Mostly Positive’ over on Steam.

Those who picked up the game praise the free trial and improved realism while others warn that there are a few performance issues.
It’s not yet clear how long theFree Starter Packwill remain available for, so I’d recommend giving it a go now in case something changes.
