That’s whyFoolish Mortalshas caught my eye, a Professor Layton-esque puzzler with a touch ofDisney’sHaunted Mansionabout it.

What I adore aboutFoolish Mortalsis that it offers a cosy, fun take on horror - hence that earlier comparison to Disney’sHaunted Mansionride.

The game promises “no deaths, dead-ends or scares”, just a compelling mystery.
There are over 100 items for players to find and use, but don’t worry. There’s also a hint system should you get stuck.
You’ll find these across 75 hand-drawn locations, with each location hiding documents, paintings, and evidence for you to investigate.
The game comes from a professional animation studio, so you can understand why it looks so lovely.

It’s also fully voiced, a nice added bonus.
Foolish Mortalsremains without a release date for now, but you can sample the game for free thanks to a handy demo that’s available over onSteam.
I’d love to see the game land on Switch eventually. For now though, PC users can enjoy that demo.
