The game didn’t exactly receive the most overwhelming critical response when it dropped back in 2015, but you wouldn’t assume that looking at the Steam reviews.
Reviews forMax Maxaveraged out at somewhere around a 7, which earned it a 69/100 (don’t say it) Top Critic averageover on OpenCritic.
The Steam reviews paint a very different picture, however. Over 90% of the 48,000+ reviews on Steam are positive, which has earnedMad Maxan overall “Very Positive” rating on the platform.
Warhammer 40,000 Warpforgeis a free-to-play title that recently landed on Steam.
So where’s this disconnect coming from? It might have something to do withMad Max’sprice.

Back in 2015,Mad Maxwas a full-price title on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, since it landed on Steam, you could grab the title for roughly £16.
And now, with the recent 90% discount, you can get the title for around $2.
Now, I’m not going to pretend it’s not more than worth giving this a go at that price. I would however warn you to temper your expectations a little.
Mad Maxis a fun little title, but it does get a bit repetitive the longer you play. It’s definitely not the 9/10 hidden gem banger that the Steam reviews are making it out to be, but it is a steal at its current price.
