Well, perhaps not. The game is off to a rocky start with the Steam reviews currently sitting at ‘mixed’, but it’s early days - and it’s clear thatBrighter Shoresis packed with potential.
This is a point-and-click style RPG set in a fantasy world that promises hundreds of hours of content.
“As the newest recruit in the Hopeport town guard, you are looking to make a name for yourself. This soon turns out to be a more challenging role than you had anticipated, with a strange storm raging over the harbour and unrest from the local goblins,” the synopsis teases.

You can pick from a number of professions, encounter a wide array of fantastical creatures, all whilst experiencing a thrilling new story.
As I said, the game is free-to-play, although there is a paid premium pass available granting you access to bonus lands - the Mine of Mantuban and Crenopolis.
“Do you remember the first time you playedRuneScape? A world full of things you didn’t understand, and nothing made sense? The camera controls were confusing, but you knew there was a ton of cool stuff to discover? This is how playingBrighter Shoresfeels,” one reviewer wrote.
“It is an amazing breath of fresh air, and I have no idea what’s going on. My curiosity is piqued around every corner. It’s fun,” they continued.

“Only a couple of hours in and I am really enjoying this so far. It’s nice to be able to create more than one character on your account, there is some Gower humor in the dialogue and it’s a nice familiar feeling environment,” said another.
Despite that mixed rating, which is mainly down to criticisms over the levelling up system, I’d say thatBrighter Shoresis certainly worth a go.
