Skull Island: Rise of KongandThe Lord of the Rings: Gollumcan breathe a sigh of relief. The Day Beforehas undoubtedly bagged the title of 2023’s worst video game.
It’s no real surprise thatThe Day Beforehas already been pulled from sale, with many players labelling it a scam. The game couldn’t quite decide whether it was an MMO or extraction shooter. On top of that, the visuals paled in comparison to those shown off in recent trailers, and the game was full of bugs, visual glitches, and questionable animations. It was soon hit withthousands of negative reviewsbefore yesterday, studio Fntastic announced that the game would be pulled whilst thestudio would also be shutting downciting it financially unviable to continue development.
Take a look at one ofThe Day Before’s original trailers. A game that promised so much and delivered so little.
It’s undoubtedly been a messy couple of days. Players are in the midst of applying for refunds, and it’s a shame thatThe Day Beforefailed to fulfil the vision it pitched. If it’s left you craving a bit of decent survival gameplay though,Steamhas responded to the debacle with the slightly cheeky‘The Day After Survival Bundle’.
