Steam’s latest terrifying horror game traps you in a swimming pool, free download available

You can you experience the intense fear your Sims felt as they discovered they couldn’t climb out of their swimming pool.

POOLSisn’t a horror game in the conventional sense of the word, but it has this unnerving ability to make the hairs on the back of your neck prick up.

We’re not sure we’re brave enough to explorePOOLS. Are you?

“The game has no user-interface and no dialogue,” its Steam page declares.

“Instead, the game uses sound to make you feel like you’re really there. The sounds and echoes change depending on the room you’re in. Walking in water is slower. All of these things make the game feel more real and creates a tense atmosphere.”

I’ve never been afraid of swimming pools… until now.

Despite there being “no monsters” creeping up behind you, the feeling of being watched and followed persists.

“[The] pool dimension is pleasantly terrifying,” joked one intrigued YouTuber.

Someone else said, “I love this. So peaceful yet so eerie at the same time.”

Instead of being put off, gamers seem rather keen to dive head first into the rippling waters ofPOOLS.

Floaties or not, it’s your choice – much like being able to try the experience for free via its demo.

How much longevity thisPCtitle has after it launches and every pool has been explored, we can’t say. Still, if you want to be excited and scared at the same time,POOLSis a game you simply have to play.

“If it weren’t for the bright lights in these rooms, I would hate everything about this,” reads another post. It has “thanks, I hate it” vibes written all over it.
