Stellar Blade ‘unintentional’ racist art will be patched out on day one

Tomorrow will see the long-awaited release ofStellar Bladebut after its embargo lifted yesterday, attention was drawn to some “unintentional” racist art included in the title.

It is no secret thatStellar Bladehas already made quite a name for itself despite not even being out in the world just yet. With some fans criticising its ‘“heavily sexualised” main character, it seems as though developers Shift Up have quite a point to prove.

In ourreview, we said: “Aside from all of the potentially-polarising outfits, this is an epic action adventure from start to finish that kept me engaged and wanting to come back for more. It doesn’t do a great deal to reinvent the wheel but it doesn’t need to. This gorgeous and fun game knows exactly what it is.”

However, despite not getting its full release until tomorrow,Stellar Blade hasalready found itself in hot water after some reviewers noticed racist art on a street wall. The art sees the word “hard” sprayed in graffiti with a neon “R” situated at the end of it.

However, in a statement released toPlayStation, Shift Up explained that this was unintentional and would be fixed in the day-one patch. Since then, it seems it has alreadybeen removed.

“The placement of two graphics near each other inStellar Bladeresulted in an unintentional objectionable phrase,” PlayStation’s statement read. “Shift Up had no intention of creating offensive artwork and will be replacing the graffiti for the Day 1 patch.”
