Stray is being turned into an animated movie - or meowvie, if you prefer

Well, this is delightful news. BlueTwelve Studio’sStrayis officially being turned into a movie, or meowvie if you’re a cat. I speak fluent cat, don’t question it.

In fact, GAMINGbible’s Eevee the cateven gave her own thoughtson the game. If you want something a little more legible though,we said, “Strayis stunning, creative, funny, and filled with moments that genuinely made my jaw drop. Whether you adore cats, or have some fundamental piece of your soul missing and don’t really care about them either way, this game is the real deal. It might be a little on the short side, but I was never anything less than utterly captivated and thoroughly entertained during the entire adventure.”

Annapurna Animation released their debut project,Nimona,on Netflix to great acclaim earlier this year.According toEntertainment Weekly, a new project fromNimona’s co-creator Nick Bruno is in the works, withIce Agedirector Chris Wedge also on board.

That project will be developed simultaneously to theStrayanimated film which, at the moment, we know very little about in terms of who’s involved. Annapurna Animation lead Robert Baird teased, “It’s a buddy comedy about a cat and a robot, and there’s such a hilarious dynamic. So, there’s comedy inherent in this, but there’s not one human being in this movie.”

“I think it’s one of the reasons why the game was incredibly popular, that you are seeing the world through the point of view of an adorable cat. How did they pull that off, and how are we going to pull that off in the movie? We will, even though sometimes it feels impossible, but we know that’s the essence of the game and the key to telling the story." Well, I can’t wait for this one.
