Sometimes when a big movie is released, it’s often not the intended vision of a director, More often than not, that vision will never come to fruition after meddling from production companies.
Sometimes a director might get a second chance to edit a movie post-release with added content that was not originally in its first form. Over the years we’ve had post-release edits for the likes ofThe Lord of the Rings,Star Warsand the Alien franchise, to name a few.

One particular director/producer that likes to tinker with movies post-release is Zack Snyder. In the past, for better or worse, we’ve had newly edited versions ofWatchmen,BatmanvSuperman: Dawn of JusticeandJustice League.

However, Snyder is hoping to add another movie to his post-release resume, and that’s 2011’sSucker Punch. If you’ve never watchedSucker Punchbefore, it’s a fun movie from what I can remember… though it did receive somewhat of a mixed reception. On Rotten Tomatoes,Sucker Punchscored just22% from critics, but 47% from the audience. Though it did receive an above-averagescore of 6.0on IMDB.

Duringan interviewwith Letterboxd, 12 years since it was initially released, Zack Snyder hopes to release a director’s cut forSucker Punch, after describing the original ending of themovieas ‘too weird’.

“She sings, ‘Ooh, Child, things are gonna get easier.’ Blondie, and all the people that have been killed, join in, and it’s the idea that in a weird way, even though she’s lobotomised, she’s kind of stuck in this infinite loop of euphoric victory," he explained. “It’s weirdly not optimistic and optimistic at the same time. That’s kind of what the tone was at the end. We tested it, and the studio thought it was too weird, so we changed it.”
At this time, there is no release date for the director’s cut ofSucker Punch, but Zack Snyder hopes that fans will get to see it “at some point”.
