The mid-90s were a great time to be a gamer with the likes of SEGA, Nintendo and newcomer PlayStation battling it out to be the most popular video game console in our homes.
WhilePlayStationwas the new kid on the scene,SEGAand PlayStation were already the top two brands in the market with the likes of iconic mascotsSonic the Hedgehogand Super Mario leading the charge. That being said, it’s the iconic Nintendo mascot that is the topic of today’s discussion.
Check out the Super Mario 3D All-Stars trailer below!
Released in 1996,Super Mario 64helped to break the mould of what fans expected to see from everyone’s favourite stereotypical Italian plumber. No longer was theSuper Mario Bros.series exclusively a 2D platformer, it was now fully 3D and became one of the most beloved video games of all time.

Super Mario 64would later benefit from several re-releases including a port for theNintendoDS in 2004 and most recently, as part of a collection that includedSuper Mario SunshineandSuper Mario Galaxyfor theNintendo SwitchwithSuper Mario 3D All-Starsin 2020.
It doesn’t matter which port ofSuper Mario 64you played, it would quickly become apparent as to why this game is considered to be a timeless classic. However, out of all the ports that we have enjoyed over the years this gorgeous remake looks to top the lot.
Of course, the elephant in the room is the likelihood of Nintendo taking down this project if it picks up steam, hopefully, that won’t be the case. With that in mind, likely, this fan-made remake will not be made playable to the public in an attempt to avoid the wrath of the Nintendo lawyers.
