
Some believe thatSuper Mario 64is the greatest 3D platformer of all time and to be honest, it’s hard to argue against that because, at the very least, it’s certainly up there.
WhenSuper Mario64was released for theNintendo64 in 1996 (1997 for Europe), it quite literally changed the game for the platform genre. While not the first platform game to dip its toes in the 3D market,Super Mario 64certainly played a huge part in revolutionising the genre with its impact still being seen today in games such asAstro Bot.

You can play a recent version ofSuper Mario 64inSuper Mario 3D All-Starsor if you subscribe toNintendo SwitchOnline + Expansion, you can play it via the classics library. However, a fan has decided to remake the beloved 3D platformer and it’s looking impressive so far.

The remake is still in development and likely some way off until we see Mario bouncing on mushroom heads, but we can’t wait to see it if that day comes. Yet, if the remake becomes playable, it’s unlikely to be made public, to avoid the wrath of the Nintendo lawyers.
