“Elder Scrolls 6is undoubtedly going to be an amazing game, but it’s going to be compared to all the previous games that Bethesda made. Just like every studio’s games are going to be compared to their previous products.”

When it comes to big budget follow ups in such extensive franchises, there’s a lot to live up to. It’s not just excitement for a new game, but how that game will add to the series.

To quote Nesmith again, “You know, the 30-year-old who is making a piece of art who’s a professional artist, he can’t control the expectation because he’s got all this history, you know - it’s there whether he likes it or not.”

The Elder Scrolls VIis still a long way off and that’s just more time for fans to stoke the hype engine, something this industry is very good at.

Perhaps when we see a new trailer that hype will be tempered, but that’s incredibly unlikely.
