Extraction gameplay is becoming the next big thing in gaming. Started with titles likeEscape From Tarkov, the genre is slowly growing with many developers getting in on the action.
While the genre is usually focused on shooters,Blight: Survivalis trying something different with a medieval brawler set in an alternate 14th century.
Nothing does undead monsters likeThe Last of Us Part II.
This co-op experience will take you into a no man’s land where death and monsters are left behind after a blight on the land.

You can work with up to three people and utilise a range of weapons in order to survive, battle, loot, and extract from the area so that you can live to fight another day.
It seems like there are several elements at play here; you’ve got the medieval style which screamsThe Elder Scrolls; the zombiefied villagers have that scary edge we see inThe Last of Us; and then there’s the extraction element that has become so popular.
This balance is what makes the extraction genre so engaging, it’s a gamble on sticking around for better loot, better opportunities at completing tasks, weighed up against the safety of leaving the area alive.

Despite using heavy armour and weaponry, the trailer makes combat look fast-paced and chaotic as our character wails on an enemy, dodging around them to achieve an advantageous position.
Expect plenty of gore, a bleak world, and danger coming from every direction. As a fan of extraction games, this has gone straight onto my wishlist as one to keep an eye on. There’s no release date as yet, but hopefully we’ll hear more soon.
