In recent years the Marvel Cinematic Universe has all but guaranteed that superhero movies are a box office success, well, at least for the most part.
At the time of writing, the highest-grossing movie in theMCUisAvengers: Endgame(2019) which generated a reported $2.8 billion at the worldwide box office. WhileThe Incredible Hulk(2008) sits at the bottom of the barrel grossing just $264 million worldwide.
As for Marvel’s most fierce rival,DC, its most successful DCEU/Snyderverse movie isAquaman(2018) grossing over $1 billion. At the button of that barrel isShazam! Fury of the Gods(2023) with a reported $132 million, or at least it was.

So, what of the most recent DCEU/Snyderverse movie,The Flashstarring Ezra Miller featuring the one and only, Micheal Keaton’sBatman? Well, it’s not looking good for our flashy superhero.
To make matters worse, it was later projected thatThe Flashwould stand to lose Warner Bros. almost $200 million from its budget of $450 million. No wonderChristian Bale apparently wanted to stay clear of this movie.
Previously,Shazam! Fury of the Godshad lostWarner Bros.an estimated $150 million andBlack Adamstarring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson lost a reported $100 million. So unfortunately for Ezra Miller and director Andy Mushchietti, not even Michael Keaton could save the latest DC production.
