The Last Of Us fans horrified as fungus-infected spiders discovered in Scotland

A 2008 episode of the nature documentaryPlanet Earthfeatured a horrifying fungus that turned creatures such as ants into mindless zombies, inspiring theNaughty Dogseries, The Last of Us. Seriously, if you’ve never watched this episode, you should; it’s really creepy.

Thankfully, this fungus can’t control humans due to our immune system and naturally higher internal temperatures, so we have nothing to worry about, at least right now. Regardless, it doesn’t make the scenario any less terrifying which is one of the reasons the concept ofThe Last of UsonPlayStationas well as the HBOTV serieshas proven so successful.

The famousPlanet Earthepisode was filmed in a South American rainforest but now a version of the fungus has made its way over to Scotland in the United Kingdom. Yep, that’s right, we’re all doomed!

The bright side of this wonderful fungus is that it also cannot infect humans. So what can it infect, I hear you ask? It infects spiders, bloody, spiders!

Now I have an image of zombie spiders in my head, could anything really be worse than this and why did it have to be spiders? Honestly, I can’t think of anything else more horrifying than that.
