For quite a while now, rumours have been circulating the internet thatThe Last of Us Part IIwill be getting a remaster for PlayStation 5.
Back in October this year, aThe Last of Us Part IIremasterappeared on a developer’s LinkedIn profile, all but confirming its existence without Sony or Naughty Dog outright announcing the news. Obviously, gossip should still be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, but I am often a believer in there being no smoke without fire.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that the developers ofNaughty Dogare no strangers to releasing igames multiple times. For example, in one form or another,The Last of Us Part Ihas been released on PC, PS3, PS4 and PS5. Even its other popular series, Uncharted has seen multiple releases with the latest beingUncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collectionon PC and PlayStation 5.

It’s unclear what exactly this native remaster ofThe Last of Us Part IIwill bring to the table, but it might be safe to assume that it will have enhanced UHD support, improved haptic feedback and adaptive triggers as well as other quality-of-life improvements.
Furthermore, whetherThe Last of Us Part IIremaster will have a discount for owners of the PS4 version as we’ve previously seen withGhost of Tsushima: Directors Cutremains to be seen, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. Hopefully, it might also mean that the sequel will be ported to PC, as long as it’s released in a better launch state thanThe Last of Us Part I.
