Wounds barely healed are about to be opened up once more as one previous Marvel star discusses the end of their character.
As is commonplace at the moment, we first need to return to the scenes ofDeadpool & Wolverineto offer some context.
In the latest Deadpool outing, we see a number of cameos, such as Blade, Elektra, Gambit – the list goes on.
One individual that was missing though was the Punisher.

There are plenty of references to the Marvel character, but Thomas Jane – fromThe Punisher(2004)-didn’t reprise the role.
Furthermore, when asked about his lack of appearance during aninterviewwith The Direct, Jane was extremely tight lipped about it, simply saying “Nope” when asked whether Marvel approached him for the film.
Although he wasn’t a man of many words on that matter, Jane did open up elsewhere.
“I like [Jon] Bernthal’s Punisher […] Bernthal wears it so well, so I think they should stick with him,” he explained.

However, when The Direct suggested him returning as a villain, Jane welcomed the idea, saying, “Hey, that wouldn’t be bad. I like that.”
Like so many others before him, yet another body has been added to the pile of decommissioned characters.
