The OG Modern Warfare 2 is now outselling the 2022 version

This is unexpected. The originalCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is now outselling 2022’sModern Warfare IIon Xbox, as Call of Duty classics continue to rise up the console’s sales charts.

It’s a busy ol’ time in theCall of Dutycalendar. The upcoming 2023 release has finally been unveiled and, as suspected,it’sModern Warfare III. It’s believed that the project was originally planned to be aMWIIexpansion, before it was decided that there was enough content to make it its own game. Strangely, despite Microsoft’s ongoing acquisition ofActivision,PlayStation users will gain early accessto the game. The single-player campaign isset to take players back to Verdanskand fans are convinced thatZombies may be making a comebackas a free–to-play entity. The game is set to release on 10 November and I’m sure when it does, it’ll rocket up the sales chart. In the meantime though, 2009’sModern Warfare 2is dominating onXbox.

Modern Warfare 2’s servers recentlyhad to be pulled offlinedue to a serious hacking situation. Many favourite Call of Duty games of yesteryear have recently experienceda major resurgence in popularityon Xbox after multiplayer servers were restored.Xbox Series X consoles reportedly even began selling outafter months of stable stock levels as CoD fans clambered to get in on the nostalgic action.

If you’re waiting to dive into the very latest in the world of Call of Duty,Modern Warfare IIIwill be released on 10 November. We know there will be an early access period, but those dates remain unconfirmed.
