It’s no secret thatThe Simpsonsis as popular as ever. It’s available in its entirety on Disney+, sees constant re-runs on TV and is currently in its 35th season. Aside from being one of the best animated comedies on TV though, it’s also got an impressive array of video games, and none are better thanThe Simpsons Hit And Run.

It’s essentiallyGrand Theft Auto, but set in the world ofThe Simpsons, so what’s not to love? It’s even so beloved that fans have been campaigning for years to have it brought back to current-gen hardware.

Whether it be a re-release, remake, orsequel, it doesn’t matter, fans want it back and they want it back now. Even the game’s original developers aredown to return for another go.
Some have even taken the time to launch petitions,one of whichis begging for a sequel to be developed, or at the very least a remake for current-gen platforms, like theXboxSeries X/S,PlayStation5 andPC. That petition has since passed 30,000 signatures, and it’s still growing.
You don’t have to change the gameplay too much either, just expand the maps to cover more areas in Springfield, add in a few more playable characters, costumes and vehicles, and it’ll probably satisfy the majority of fans.

Hopefully, developers and publishers realise the potentialThe Simpsonsstill has for video games, especially after all the new developments and characters introduced during the recent seasons.
At the moment it’s looking like a pipe dream, but if enough people voice their desires, it could potentially become a reality.
