The Witcher 3 is free to download and try for PlayStation Plus subscribers

Fans of The Witcher are coming off the back of a dramatic ol’ week. Over on Netflix, Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivea has finally departed the show.

This means that we’ve nowentered Liam Hemsworth territory, as the Aussie actor is set to take over the role inThe Witcher’s fourth season. It’s still not known exactly why Cavill chose to depart the show, but it’s believed to be down to creative differences with the writers. I’ll refrain from spoilingCavill’s final moments, but let’s just say that fans are pretty underwhelmed. The lacklustre (and somewhat messy) finale rounds off what’s been a troublesome season. If you’re a fan of the show but you’re yet to dive into the video game series, I just so happen to have news of a tempting offer forPlayStation Plussubscribers. A new free trial ofThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunthas just become available.

The Witcher 3recently received a gorgeous new-gen overhaul.

If you’re sat there wondering, ‘Can I dive intoThe Witcher 3without having played any other The Witcher games?’, the answer is yes. Obviously, you’ll benefit from your understanding of the characters and lore if you’ve played the first two games, butThe Witcher 3works as a solid entry point for new players.

I will warn you though, while you may have heard many hailThe Witcher 3as one of the best RPGs of all-time (which is true), it also has a slog of a start. The opening hours are slow to say the least, but make it to the end of the four hour trial, and you may start to get an idea of what’s to come later in the game.
