In 2022, CD Projekt RED announced that it was working onThe Witcher 4, as well as other projects that include aremake of the original gamefrom 2007. No details were provided onThe Witcher 4, other than it will be moving away from CDPRs in-house REDengine in favour of Unreal Engine 5 as part of a “multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games”.

No release dates have been announced for The Witcher projects, but it might be safe to assume that they could be next-gen releases some years away, especially as we know that CDPR likes to take its time. That being said, that hasn’t stopped fans from continuing the hype train rolling forThe Witcher 4.
“Two-thirds of CD Projekt developers are now working onThe Witcher 4, reaching its target staff size,”saidRedditor Turbostrider27 sharing information in the thread. This implies that CDPR has notched it up a gear with the development of the upcoming action RPG.

Understandably, fans are seriously excited for The Witcher 4but that doesn’t mean there aren’t concerns, especially following the launch woes ofCyberpunk 2077.
“I hope they have learnt their lesson fromCyberpunk 2077. Marketing less early, take your time, and DON’T release the game on platforms that just can’t run it,” exclaimed jorgelongo222 referring to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases.
