To say that excitement forThe Witcher 4is high would be an understatement but at this time, developers CD Projekt RED has provided very few details about the upcoming sequel.

At this time,The Witcher4doesn’t have an official name butCDPRhas given it the codenamePolarisfor the time being. Some have speculated that inThe Witcher 4, Geralt of Rivia will not be the main protagonist but instead, his loyal friend,Ciri will be the new leading character.

“The Witcher 4won’t be out for some years, and it’ll [have been] a long time since the previous one, so we cannot just target the audience already fond of the saga. We must also build a new community.”
While those details were vague, it’s interesting that Geralt of Rivia was mentioned. Whether the popular character will be playable, an NPC or included in flashbacks inThe Witcher 4remains to be seen but it’s nice that he’s seemingly been confirmed to play some sort of role in the sequel.
No release date has been announced forThe Witcher 4at the time of writing, but we’d be very lucky if it was to launch in the next couple of years. We know that CDPR understandably likes to take its time developing games, and we’re sure thatThe Witcher 4will be no exception.
