The Witcher 4 teaser confirms a very different RPG to Wild Hunt

It’s no secret thatThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntis one of the best video games of all time and it’s also fair to say it helped put developer CD Projekt RED on the map.

Despite being the third game in the series, for most fans,The Witcher 3: Wild Huntwas an entry point for theCD Projekt RED’sRPG series, which is all the more remarkable when you think of all the success it garnered even without prior knowledge of the first two games. Thankfully, if you’re a sucker for added lore,The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kingsis available on PC and Xbox 360, what’s more, it’s also backwards compatible with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

At this time, we don’t know whenThe Witcher 4or the remake will be released but arecent updatekicked fans' hype into overdrive and many will be hoping we will get our first look at the fourth numbered entry sooner rather than later. Now, CD Projekt RED has given us another update onThe Witcher 4, getting us even more excited than we already were.

During a recent earnings call, co-CEO at CD Projekt RED, Michał Nowakowskiteasedinvestors thatThe Witcher 4won’t be simply treading on the old ground and will look to improve on its predecessors in almost every way with new features and gameplay mechanics.

“When it comes to the risks of innovative elements – making a new game is always a creative risk, especially since we’re trying to push new boundaries and explore new fields; that’s something we haven’t actually done before. This is a pretty broad paint brush stroke, for sure, but I cannot go into too much detail without actually talking about the game per se,” said Nowakowski.

“I guess what I’m saying is that you should not be expecting “The Witcher 3in new clothing” of sorts; of course, we’re building on the shoulders of what came before, and on what we’ve learned, but we will be adding new gameplay elements and new mechanics that you have not seen in our previous games. I’d say – doing such things is always a risk; it’s not just repeating what was done before.”
