The Witcher 4’s open-world map size confirmed, and she’s a hefty beast

Since it was finally announced at this year’s The Game Awards, and even before then if we are being honest,The Witcher 4has already become one of the most anticipated games of all time.

Taking place a few years after the events ofThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntand following the canon ending of Ciri becoming aWitcher, we follow her as she embarks on her monster-slaying journey but other than that, not much else is currently known.

Well, that is a lie as according to a recent interview withCD Projekt REDdevelopers, we now know thatThe Witcher 4’s map will be quite hefty indeed.

Talking on the Friends Per Secondpodcast, game director Sebastian Kalemba and executive producer Gosia Mitrega shared some interesting news.

According to them,The Witcher 4’s map is “definitely more or less the same when it comes to size” and could be “90, 85, or 100 percent” the size of the map inThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

According to official measurements, the map forThe Witcher 3was around 142 sq km and consists of Kaer Morhen in the north, The Skellige Isles in the South West and cities such as Novigrad, Velen, White Orchard and the Royal Palace of Vizima further inland.

It is currently unclear where Ciri’s journey will take her but we at least know from theworld premiere trailerthat she will be heading further north at one point in her story.

Until then, we will have to wait a bit longer to receive any more information aboutThe Witcher 4.

However, withThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntalready becoming a modern-day classic, its sequel will have a lot to live up to.
