Xbox boss officially reveals new console, but don’t get rid of your Series X yet

Being able to hold the power of Xbox in your hands is no longer just a pipe dream. Still, its release is some years away yet.

As much as we love ourXboxSeries X, we appreciate how cumbersome it is – we can’t exactly take it on the train with us for a quick gaming session on the way to work.

It would be wonderful to be able to play our favourite Xbox titles on the move.

Technically, we can, so long as they’re also available on either theSteamDeck orNintendo, but let’s ignore technicalities for now.

Our point is that a handheld version of the Xbox is an obvious gap inMicrosoft’s hardware catalogue. And it’s apparently one it intends to fill over the next few years.

Furthermore, that there are plans to build a handheld console, as well as prototypes currently being worked on.

It’s a promising start, but that’s all it is: a start.

Xbox is nowhere near ready to unveil this console beyond its initial concept. Consequently, you should return your Xbox Series X/S to its place in your living room; you’ll need it for the foreseeable future.

Should you be without a console to call your very own, now is the time to purchase one.

You’ve got a long wait ahead before that handheld arrives, you may as well enjoy gaming on another device in the meantime.
