Xbox gamers surprised with hefty RPG you can play free this weekend

Xboxgamers can try an upcoming RPG for free this weekend, a whole month ahead of its official release.

As the developer’s name might imply, Amazon Games Orange County is actually one of Amazon’s gaming divisions. The online retail giant started dipping their toes into AAA games back in 2016, and the originalNew Worldserves as its first big foray into the market.

The reviews for the originalNew Worldare uniformly average, with almost every outlet scoring it 6/10.

Amazon is clearly trying to rebrand it a bit with the console release of the title however, although you can be assured that the microtransaction heavy “gameplay” is probably still going to present in the newer versions of the game.

Xbox owners can make their own minds up this weekend instead of listening to me though. Just be warned, the version available this weekend is apparently still in beta - so your experience with the full version may vary.

PlayStation owners need not fear however, as they too can get in on the action whenNew World: Aeternumreleases on 15 October next month (although you may want to ask your Xbox pals what they think of the beta before jumping in credit card first).
