Xbox makes hit open-world zombie game free for 48 hours

Yet another weekend is almost upon us, which means a new edition of Free Play Days has arrived.

Of course, despite it being called ‘Free’ Play Days, you do as always need anXbox Game Passmembership to access all three of this month’s titles.

Every now and then a game pops up without that prerequisite but I’m afraid not this month.

It doesn’t matter which membership you have though with Ultimate, Standard, and Core members all being eligible.

This edition of Free Play Days runs from now until Sunday 20 October, ending at 11.59pm PDT.

But without further ado, let’s dive into the game’s available.

First up, we have Techland’sDying Light- a first-person zombie survival game.

“At night, beware the Infected as they grow in strength and even more lethal nocturnal predators leave their nests to feed on their prey. Live to survive another day. Good Night, Good Luck.”

If you likeDying Light, it’s well worth checking out its successor.

If sports games are more your thing, then perhapsNBA 2K25is the one for you, with this version being “optimised forXboxSeries X/S”.

“Compete your way as you define your legacy in MyCareer and MyTeam, and experience MyNBA and The W mode on Xbox Series X/S or MyLeague on Xbox One. Express your personality with an array of customisation options and explore an all-new City (Xbox Series X/S) or urban metropolis in the Neighbourhood (Xbox One),” it reads.

Finally, we haveExoCross, which has also been optimised for the console.

“In the year 2138, auto racing has undergone a renaissance after being taken to new and distant planets. A whole new championship has been designed on the planet Proteus, mixing natural terrain with the most challenging obstacles that nanobots could bring into deep space,” it teases.

“Boost-powered, high-speed open-wheel cars produce aggressive racing and suspense at every turn. The drivers, racing via long-distance transmission from Earth, are celebrities here - and you’re next in line.”
