Xbox surprises gamers with two classic remasters you can download free

Yesterday marked the first day of QuakeCon, the yearly convention that ZeniMax Media (the parent company ofBethesda) holds in celebration of everything id Software related.

QuakeCon doubles as both a platform for future id Software announcements and as a LAN party for those looking to play older titles likeQuakeandDOOMwith some like-minded LAN lovers.

It’s the announcement side of things we want to focus on today however, as Bethesda announced that two classic id Software titles are getting updated and ported to several systems.

As confirmed in a tweet from theQuakeCon Twitter accountyesterday, enhanced editions of bothDOOMandDOOM IIare now available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, GOG, the Nintendo Switch, Steam, the Epic Games storefront and all Windows and Xbox storefronts.

Both games come packaged together in one updated bundle for £7.99, with a bunch of new features to boot.

TheDOOM + DOOM IIbundle features “new content, community published mods, online multiplayer up to 16 players with cross-play, and up to 120hz in 4K”.

Xbox owners need not fret about the price however, as if you have an active Game Pass subscription thenDOOM + DOOM IIis already available for you to download for free.

Also, if you own eitherDOOMorDOOM IIon any of the previously listed storefronts, then you can now claim theDOOM + DOOM IIpackage for free. Even if you just own one of the games, you’ll still get the other one that’s included in the new package for free too.

Now that I mention it, it’s been a hot minute since we got a newQuakegame. You know, the game the convention is named after. Throw us a bone here guys.
