Originally released in cinemas in 2017, despite being a box office success garnering over $661 million from its $300 million budget,DC’sJustice Leaguehad somewhat of a rocky road. Sadly, during post-production, director Zack Snyder lost his daughter andMCU’sThe Avengersdirector Joss Whedon took over directorial duties forJustice League.

Joss Whedon ordered reshoots, script rewrites and cut down the runtime ofJustice Leagueand as a result, this final version of themoviewasn’t exactly what Zack Synder had envisioned. However, in 2021, during the COVID pandemic,Justice Leaguewas re-released on HBO Max and was the movie that Snyder had intended with new scenes and added context to the story.

To give an impression of how much of a changeZack Synder’s Justice League(2021) was compared to the 2017 version, the runtime had increased from two hours to over four hours. Unfortunately,Zack Synder’s Justice Leaguewas never released in cinemas but it seems that’s about to change.

I’d be surprised ifZack Synder’s Justice Leaguemade anywhere near the amount of box office money as the 2017 release, after all, this extended version of the DC movie is a few years old at this point and seven years old when you consider its original release. That being said, it will be nice to have the option of seeing the best version of theJustice Leagueon the big screen soon.
